Welcome to the WK7 Fantasy Football Ranking NFC Edge Rusher IDP Start/Sit Chart cheat sheets presented by GridironRatings.com Where the only original and proven IDP start/sit chart “cheat sheets” via The IDP Tipster can be found. And yes, there are a few imitators, but there is only one true original five-step formula IDP tactical tool. A formula with a well-tested history for over a decade and a proven high-hit rate in IDP play well before sharing it with the public four years ago. And all of that history and relevancy is only available here for G.R. fantasy football family members.

And they are located on our The IDP Tipster member page or perhaps even on our main article page.

NEW! THE ORIGINAL START/SIT CHARTS AND ODDSMAKER “IN TANDEM TUTORIAL” ARTICLE
WK7 Fantasy Football Ranking
* The Fantasy Football Edge Rusher Chart would traditionally contain just the 3-4 outside linebackers and 4-3 defensive ends from the NFL’s two-base defensive schemes. But at times, for whatever reason, some of the main sites list some 3-4 defensive end. Not to mention some strongside linebackers from the 4-3 scheme. And one of those main sites that have been engaging IDP owners for quite a few years with the designated Edge Rusher position as an option is ESPN.COM.
So although this author doesn’t personally consider those 3-4 defensive ends a part of the true Edge Rushers, we will set these charts by whom they list as such. Because even if the position has been around for some time, on a few sites. It’s still in the process of gaining traction by IDP owners. And there still needs to be a baseline set somehow. So what better way to do it than with the old school, and one of the originals, but ESPN.
Note, this listing of ESPN Edge Rushers may not reflect this author’s Edge Rushers rankings or the Gridiron Rating player ratings. But until it is a full-fledge position used across the board and a player standard is set. We can’t ignore what the users of the charts and IDP owners may have access too. We’ll also mention that the Edge Rusher formula for these charts adds at least one additional step over the traditional five.

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Quinnjust isn’t making an impact yet, nor is he getting the snaps we would like to see from an edge rusher. But on the other hand, we have Vaughters with slightly more snaps and he has got to the QB the last two contests. But he isn’t the starter, and we’d like to see more than just a couple of combined tackles to go with those sacks each contest. Just something to keep an eye on for bye weeks as we move forward.
Mack is dealing with a back issue that’s had him sidelined during practice. But reports are he’ll likely be good to go versus the Rams this week, who decently protect the edge on paper. Hence, back issue and Rams decent at protecting the edge equals his mark.

Gary is really interesting “if” P. Smith would happen to sit out. But interesting isn’t reliable this deep into the season.

Stephen Weatherly
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Marquis Haynes
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
Yetur Gross-Matos (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Burns has the chance here this week versus the Saints to really impress us. The matchup on paper is really solid overall. And we would have gone higher on his mark if he would have shown just a little more in harder matchups in the past. So eyes on Burns in this divisional game because he’ll have an even better matchup the following week versus the Falcons. And this one is the real gauge of what this young man can do the rest of the season with it being an important divisional contest.
Saints Edge Rushers
Cameron Jordan
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Trey Hendrickson
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Marcus Davenport
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Carl Granderson
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: It’s here, and we have talked it into the ground about Davenport getting healthy and likely ending Hendrickson’s mass opportunities to do so well. And for that reason, we’ve marked both barely solid for this contest versus the Panthers. It’s best to watch this one play out, noting we could see a 50-50 timeshare to Hendrickson falling off the map. Although he deserves more, but be careful what we wish for because a huge time share likely takes two decent options off the board going forward over just one.
They also might decide to rotate Jordan out a bit more here and there to give him a few fewer snaps and giving him time to freshen his legs. But we aren’t going to worry as much about that this contest. We’re just not going to add the veterans upside he likely deserves this time around.
Buccaneers Edge Rushers
Jason Pierre-Paul
☆☆☆☆☆ 4/5
Shaquil Barrett
☆☆☆☆☆ 4/5
Anthony Nelson
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Quinton Bell
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
Advice/Note: Wow, we suggested the last contest to avoid the “barely” solid contest versus the Packers. And with Barrett, it was very well received if owners took that advice. He recorded nothing and had a 0 in the box score. But JPP ended up having his best game of the season, with a couple of sacks, a forced fumble, and around 6 combined tackles. We do hope owners understand that Barrett is just a good as JPP at this stage of his career, and our “barely” example with him justifies our formal. And that things like JPP having the game he had were purely in the hands of the fantasy gods. Because he certainly could have given his owners a big fat 0 like Barrett in the boxscore. And sometimes those hurt worse than missing out on a big game in IDP.
For those that ignored the warning and played your stud, hats off to you for not sitting a stud like JPP. And for Barrett stud owners, we warned you and hope that it didn’t cost you the contest. It’s a fickled thing this fantasy game we love.

Cowboys Edge Rushers
Aldon Smith
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
DeMarcus Lawrence
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Everson Griffen
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Randy Gregory
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Notice how Smith has cooled off a little since the first three contests? That’s because those first three contests were real favorable matchups when we look at it on-paper now with the updated data/info we use for this five-step formula. And the last three weren’t so favorable. But yet Smith did still produce within a decent range. And we have to also figure with harder matchups came with O-Lines intent on stopping him.
And now the fun part. The Cowboys now have Gregory back, who was a stud in his own right when he wasn’t getting suspended. So ow they might have one of the most impressive depth charts in edge rushers overall. Depending of course on how Gregory performs. So that fun part, how and who does he replace or rotate with? One would think it would pay off big to have Smith, Gregory, and Lawerence or Griffen rotate on the edge. And ask either Griffen or Lawerence to step inside on the interior to help out there. But that is just our thoughts when we see/know how weak the Cowboys IDLs actually are.
So what about this week versus Washington, on paper? Well, the matchup isn’t all that until we added in Smith’s upside he brings every week. And then add in the fact Gregory will likely be worked in, whether it’s all at once or not, we’re pumping the brakes.

Cardinals Edge Rushers
Haason Reddick
☆☆☆☆☆ 3.5/5
Devon Kennard
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Kylie Fitts
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Dennis Gardeck
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Chandler Jones (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: According to what we saw last contest, Reddick should be the stronger target this week versus the Seahawks. But we can’t dismiss Kennard either because before his injury and returning last contest he was showing up as well. The matchup on paper is actually really strong but we’re a little hesitant to go full go with the results right now.
Chandler Jones had just gone on I.R. and Kennard had just come back from his injury. And we just want t make sure which player plays the weakside versus who plays the strong side in the defensive scheme. But again, based on last week we think Reddick has the advantage in this contest and is why he was mentioned in our waiver wire article again this week. And not Kennard who may have the disadvantage or just needs to get his legs back like he had earlier in the season.
Rams Edge Rushers
Aaron Donald
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Leonard Floyd
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Samson Ebukam
☆☆☆☆☆ 1.5/5
Terrell Lewis
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Excuse this language, please. We are damned if we do and dammed if we don’t with this squad. And the stud Donald is the worst collaborate. The contest he should have a great game he doesn’t, and the games he shouldn’t he does. And there just isn’t any real reason for it when we examine it. So with that said, versus the Bears, it actually falls right in the middle of the pack in terms of opportunity for Donald. And that is right where we will put him and say he has upside. But at the same time warn owners that it could go either way. It’s simple, Donald is one of the best at his job, can we really afford to sit him? As for the rest, the middle of the pack result on paper isn’t enough to go there with them.
With the rest” of this squad not getting it done this year, we have eyes on the rookie Lewis. He just got off I.R. last contest and got his feet wet with 12% of the snaps. Before he went on I.R. they were excited for this rookie, and they certainly could stand him to show up big considering the lack of overall high-end production by anyone not named Donald.
49ers Edge Rushers
Kerry Hyder
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Arik Armstead
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Dion Jordan
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Ziggy Ansah (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Versus the Patriots either one of these guys could overachieve. And we could have added a bit of upside based on just what the Patriots offer. But after Hyder broke his streak of producing hen he should last week. And Armstead has been up and down, we’ll roll with the minimum in the marks and expect more out of them.
Both these guys are playing a significant amount of snaps with all the injuries the 49ers have had on the D-line. And that may be taking a toll on them as the games go on.
Seahawks Edge Rushers
Benson Mayowa
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
L.J. Collier
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Alton Robinson
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Shaquen Griffen
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: On paper, there just isn’t enough IDP meat on that bone to go more than “barely” versus the Cardinals with this squad.
