Advice/Note: Bye-Week

Vikings Inside Linebackers

Eric Kendricks (?)
3/5
Eric Wilson
2.5/5
Hardy Nickerson
1.5/5
Todd Davis
1/5

Advice/Note: As of the time of this publication all we know is Kendricks was out with a foot injury on Wednesday. As it sits right now the on-paper matchup versus the Seahawks isn’t all that appealing in top-end production. Of course, if Kendricks is ok, he carries his own upside as a higher ceiling talent. It’s something to keep an eye on.

As for Wilson he has produced well enough to take real notice after replacing the injured Barr as a full-time player. And whether or not he is the main guy with Kendricks out or not we’re leaving his mark at “just” solid and figure there may be some upside if he is.

As for if Kendricks is out and they pull in another starter, and that starter does get a full-time role. This could be a bit tricky and might take further reports to figure out. or even a game-time decision to be made. The best we can say for now with such limited info is that Nickerson has got more snaps than Davis thus far. And it’s hard to tell if it’s because Davis was just added to the squad a couple of weeks ago or not and just being eased in.

With that being said, we want Kendricks to play, Wilson should be OK either way, and likely best to avoid the Nickerson versus Davis until we know more.

NFC south

Falcons Inside Linebackers

Deion Jones
4/5
Foyesade Oluokun (?)
3.5/5
Mykal Walker
2/5
LaRoy Reynolds
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Oluokun is still dealing with the same hamstring injury that he has been dealing with. And at least we know in this case that if he would sit out the rookie Walker would step in with no problem. We are going to mention now if Oluokun does play and continues to outplay Jones in producing IDP points, he’ll earn the top rank in our depth chart soon.

As for this matchup, it is really strong on paper. But we are marking it slightly under because Jones has lost his upside some and Oluokun is hampered by the hammy. But either way, versus the Panthers they need to be in our lineups this contest.

Panthers Inside Linebackers

Shaq Thompson
3/5
Jeremy Chinn – S/LB
3/5
Tahir Whitehead
2/5
Jermaine Carter
0.5/5

Advice/Note: It was just a matter of time as we expected for Whitehead. Week one snap percentage, 90%, week two, 72%. And then Week three, 64%. And last week he fell to 53%. The long time veteran has been phased out slowly with the rookie Chinn performing so well. Our “catch 22”, Chinn is more than likely just listed as a defensive back in most sites. But we know for a fact his role is way more linebacker than safety. Anyhow, as for now, Whiteheads taking the hit.

Versus the Falcons roll with Thompson and Chinn as marked and know there is likely even more upside IDP meat on the bone we haven’t added on paper.

Saints Inside Linebackers

Demario Davis
4/5
Alex Anzalone
2.5/5
Kiko Alonso (0)
0/5
Zack Baun
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Davis, other than that, Anzalone is just solid versus the Chargers. We simply need to see more out of him on paper before there s any upside.

Buccaneers Inside Linebackers

Lavonte David
0/5
Devin White
0/5
Kevin Minter
0/5
Jack Cichy
0/5

Advice/Note: See Thursday Game Edtion Charts.

NFC East

Cowboys Inside Linebackers

Jaylon Smith
4/5
Leighton Vander Esch (?)
4/5
Joe Thomas
1/5
Sean Lee (IR)
0/5

Advice/Notes: Vander Esch returned to practice Wednesday. Thomas’s owners are on notice at this time. It is a sticky situation as we do not know if Vander will be activated completely at this time. But as we mentioned last week, ride Thomas as long as that train is rolling. And know that it looks like it’ll be pulling into the station soon.

Of course, if Vander is out transfer those marks to Thomas with no problem. And go peek in on your waiver wires to see if Vander was dropped if you need the help. Just know his injury history isn’t something to ignore.

Smith moved into the Vander Esh role when he went down and Thomas flourished a bit more than expected at the same time. There should be some balance coming back soon as long as Vander Esch can stay healthy. As for this matchup versus the Giants, we’ll roll with the on-paper results and note whoever is in there playing a full-time role has upside. And knowing for sure Smith will be a full-time player adds a touch more for him off the top.

Giants Inside Linebackers

Blake Martinez
4/5
Devante Downs
2/5
TJ Brunson
0.5/5
David Mayo (IR)
0/5

Advice/Note: Stable, we role with stud Martinez every contest and avoid the others versus the Cowboys. Martinez is the same guy he was with the Packers for so many years at this point. We call it matchup proof, and no matter the matchup he’ll always be a solid play with upside.

Eagles Inside Linebackers

Nathan Gerry
4/5
T.J. Edwards (D)
0/5
Duke Riley
2.5/5
Alex Singleton
1/5
Davion Taylor
0.5/5

Advice/Note: It figures after we mention that Edwards passed Riley as the number two ILB on the starting squad and was trending up, he gets hurt. And Gerry might have played his best game to date this season at the same time. This means we wait it out and see what happens again when Edwards gets healthy.

As for this contest versus the Steelers just roll with Gerry as normal. And if your desperate Riley might see a slight bump, but should really be considered “just” solid if you’re going there. And who knows, maybe we get to see the rookie Taylor on the field for the first time this season.

Washington’s Inside Linebackers

Jon Bostic
3/5
Kevin Pierre-Louis
2.5/5
Shaun Dion Hamilton
1/5
Thomas Davis
0.5/5

Advice/Note: As it sits, Bostic is the full-time guy, Pierre-Louis has dropped to a low full-time snap count of 80%. And hamilton is playing a little bit more than Davis, and neither makes a real impact. With that said, this matchup on paper versus the Rams isn’t all that. We’ll roll with the on-paper results and call Bostic solid with upside we can’t count on. And “barely” solid for P-L with the same upside we can’t count on.

NFC West

Cardinals Inside Linebackers

De’Vondre Campbell
4.5/5
Jordan Hicks
4.5/5
Isaiah Simmons
1/5
Tanner Vallejo
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Your welcome Hicks owners! I mention how you are probably disappointed so far this year considering what it took to draft/get Hicks this off-season. Just to watch him have his best game of the season by a half-mile. 🙂 This is stable as it gets, and versus the Jets, it’s just a matter of who out-produces who.

Rams Inside Linebackers

Micah Kiser (?)
4/5
Kenny Young (?)
2.5/5
Troy Reeder
1/5
Justin Hollins
0.5/5

Advice/Note: The million-dollar question in private chats I’ve had is who takes over the middle if Kiser is out. First off, as of the time of this publication, the injury reports are both Kiser (groin) and Young (knee) sat out Wednesday’s practice. Second, Reder is taking the reps at MLB while they are out, which is Kiser’s position. Third, whoever it is that plays the MLB spot and gets the lion’s share of the snaps will feast versus the Washington team. And fourth, whoever is the second ILB will likely only see about 65% of the snaps.

Hence the marks for these players on the chart via the on paper formula result. The trick, who plays the heavier role if Kiser is out, noting a groin injury lingers. We would have to give the odds to Reeder at this point. But just know at this point it is anyone’s guess. It may take a game-time decision, so keep an eye out for all the latest. Oh, and the second 65% guy, the upside of the match only has them at “just” solid, and risky.

49ers Inside Linebackers

Fred Warner
3/5
Kwon Alexander
3/5
Dre Greenlaw (O)
0/5
Azeez Al-Shaair
1/5

Advice/Note: With Greenlaw out, stability is secured. And this matchup isn’t the most solid one we like to see on paper versus the Dolphins. But the shape of the 49ers D-line has a touch of upside for either guy figured in. And there could be more IDP meat on the bone for both players depending on the game flow. Or best call, a firm solid with a “just” solid floor.

Seahawks Inside Linebackers

Bobby Wagner
4/5
K.J. Wright (?)
3.5/5
Jordyn Brooks (O)
0/5
Cody Barton (?)
1/5

Advice/Note: Wright was out of practice and marked questionable because he is “sick”. So as long as it’s not anything serious he’ll be in there. If for some crazy reason he isn’t, Barton will be one good pick up versus the Vikings on paper. Just take at least one full mark off him to be safe about it. And think more “just” solid than anything. And food for thought, and not to confuse anyone. But if Wright was out and Barton was in. Who do you think the Vikings would prefer to run the ball at, Stud Wagner or Barton?
