WK12 Fantasy Football Ranking NFC Edge Rusher IDP Start/Sit Chart

by | Nov 28, 2020

Welcome to the WK12 Fantasy Football Ranking NFC Edge Rusher IDP Start/Sit Chart cheat sheets presented by GridironRatings.com Where the only original and proven IDP start/sit chart “cheat sheets” via The IDP Tipster can be found. And yes, there are a few imitators, but there is only one true original five-step formula IDP tactical tool. A formula with a well-tested history for over a decade and a proven high-hit rate in IDP play well before sharing it with the public four years ago. And all of that history and relevancy is only available here for G.R. fantasy football family members.

Individual Defensive Players

WK12 Fantasy Football Ranking NFC Edge Rusher

Disclaimer: We do not suggest “reaching” for higher designated players over available known studs!

* The Fantasy Football Edge Rusher Chart would traditionally contain just the 3-4 outside linebackers and 4-3 defensive ends from the NFL’s two-base defensive schemes. But at times, for whatever reason, some of the main sites list some 3-4 defensive end. Not to mention some strongside linebackers from the 4-3 scheme. And one of those main sites that have been engaging IDP owners for quite a few years with the designated Edge Rusher position as an option is ESPN.COM.

So although this author doesn’t personally consider those 3-4 defensive ends a part of the true Edge Rushers, we will set these charts by whom they list as such. Because even if the position has been around for some time, on a few sites. It’s still in the process of gaining traction by IDP owners. And there still needs to be a baseline set somehow. So what better way to do it than with the old school, and one of the originals, but ESPN.

Note, this listing of ESPN Edge Rushers may not reflect this author’s Edge Rushers rankings or the Gridiron Rating player ratings. But until it is a full-fledge position used across the board and a player standard is set. We can’t ignore what the users of the charts and IDP owners may have access too. We’ll also mention that the Edge Rusher formula for these charts adds at least one additional step over the traditional five.

James Vaughters

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: On paper, the Packers allow the least amount of production off the edge in the NFL. Just something to keep in mind as you see Mack is marked as he is. Ir is all his own upside that got him marked as he is.

Vikings Edge Rushers

Jalyn Holmes
3/5
Ifeadi Odenigbo
2.5/5
D.J. Wonnum
2.5/5
Danielle Hunter (IR)
0/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: As marked on paper versus the Panthers, and just adding a couple of notes. According to our resources and his new designation in Tipster leagues, Holmes is now playing defensive end. He was a defensive tackle and should be designated as both in some sites. This could be huge for leagues he can be played as a DT in, depending on the matchups going forward. Because if he can get t the quarterback and start applying pressure, his ceiling will be higher for IDP owners.

As for the other two, who had been making decent impressions lately, Obenigbo reportedly started as the other DE last contest. In week 11 the snaps went as, with Holms and Obenigbo starting, Holms – 76%, Obenigbo – 68%, and Wonnum in at 42.5%. And as for this contest versus the Panthers, caution may be well worth it as they aren’t all that favorable on average allowing production off the edge anyhow.

NFC south

Falcons Edge Rushers

Dante Fowler Jr. (Q)
2/5
Steven Means
2/5
Jacob Tuioti- Mariner
2/5
John Cominsky
1.5/5
Charles Harris
2/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: A couple of these guys actually produced something last contest, mainly Means and Harris. And we did have Means marked at 2 1/2 stars based on the prior week’s snap counts and the top 10 on paper matchup off the edge versus the Saints. Well, don’t get too excited, they did produce by not quite up to par as what the matchup actually offered overall. And this week versus the Raiders, we are talking the other end of the spectrum in terms of matchups.

Panthers Edge Rushers

Brian Burns
2.5/5
Marquis Haynes (?)
1/5
Yetur Gross-Matos
1/5
Efe Obada
1/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: First, we’ll recap with what I had in the notes last contest versus the Lions.

“On paper, as marked and adding that Burns could overachieve here, but rarely does. He is more of a guy who gets what the matchup offers and that’s about it. With that said, it’s safer looking at it as “barely” just solid with upside. But let’s be clear about something. The Lions are currently dead last in allowing production off the edge on average.”

Well, Burns had his best contest of the season in week 11. And that overachieving remark, well, it was based on what the Lions had allowed the contest before in week 10. It’s been just enough of a pump that the Lions are no longer dead last in allowing production no off the edge. Just an update of the situation that played out for a future note.

As for this contest, versus the Vikings, we aren’t taking anything away from Burns, but we aren’t going to overreact either. Because on paper, the Vikings are holding firm at what they allow off the edge. So, as marked versus the Vikings and maybe something has clicked with Burns, but we got to see it again when the matchup isn’t there. Our goal, see things happen at least three contests in a row, and not in favorable matchups, if possible. And so far from where we sit, Burns has accomplished two in a row similar to that once this year.

Saints Edge Rushers

Trey Hendrickson
3/5
Cameron Jordan
2.5/5
Marcus Davenport
2/5
Carl Granderson
0.5/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Here is what this has boiled down to with these three all being healthy. In each contest, there is only so much meat on the bone and that is divided up between the three and the Saints DT Onymemata in the interior. And out of these four last contest, Davenport was the one left out in the cold. And admittingly Davenport has not yet made a significant impact overall as we expected after returning from the I.R.

So until he does, we’re giving credit where credit is due with the other two. And with that said, as marked versus the Broncos and a touch more upside for Hendrickson. His on average has been more consistent and undoubtfully he has had a breakout campaign we need to keep adding upside too.

Buccaneers Edge Rushers

Jason Pierre-Paul
3/5
Shaquil Barrett
3/5
Anthony Nelson
1/5
Quinton Bell
0.5/5

Advice/Note: As marked versus the Chiefs and it might be a tough matchup on paper, but we know that either of these players can overachieve any given contest.

NFC East

Cowboys Edge Rushers

Aldon Smith
0/5
DeMarcus Lawrence (?)
0/5
Randy Gregory (?)
0/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Played Thanksgiving Thursday.

Giants Edge Rushers

Kyler Fackrell
2/5
Jabaal Sheard
1.5/5
Cam Brown
1/5
Oshane Ximines (IR/?)
0/5
Lorenzo Carter (IR)
0/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: Sure, on paper the Bengals are a top 10 matchup for the edge rushers. but at the same time, on paper via the formula, the OLBs, or edge rushers, of the Giants just aren’t getting it done anymore. And because of that, they are in the bottom 5 in the league as a squad. Hence, someone is likely going to overachieve, but those odds aren’t all that strong that one will. So for that reason, as marked versus the Bengals and a warning to just avoid the situation. It’s just not worth the risk here.

Eagles Edge Rushers

Brandon Graham
4/5
Derek Barnett (?)
3/5
Josh Sweat
3/5
Genard Avery
1/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Seahawks. And if Barnett can go, it’s just a matter of who gets on a roll between him and Sweat.

Washington’s Edge Rushers

Chase Young
0/5
Montez Sweat
0/5
Ryan Kerrigan
0/5
Ryan Anderson
0/5

NFC West

Cardinals Edge Rushers

Haason Reddick
3/5
Devon Kennard
2/5
Markus Golden
2/5
Isaiah Simmons
3/5
Chandler Jones (IR)
0/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Patriots and adding the exact same note from the ILB charts for our FYI.

“And a warning as the rookie Simmons has done nothing but been a beast in multiple positions. He has mainly been playing OLB/Edge rusher. But did play for Campell at ILB last contest after Campbell went down again. So here is our warning, we do not have any news that Simmons will start over Campbell. And if he plays at OLB, he’ll likely still hit his mark. And if you are a Campbell owner, I’d be real nervous inserting him this week.”

So basically, Reddick and the rookie should be good to go as marked, one way or the other.

Rams Edge Rushers

Aaron Donald
3/5
Leonard Floyd
3/5
Terrell Lewis (D)
0/5
Samson Ebukam
2/5

SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: As marked versus the 49ers. And would suggest going easy on your Ebukam shares based on last week’s performance. It’s the first time he has shown up in the box score worth noticing and the most snaps as well this year.

We also know that Donald flopped last week versus his matchup on paper, but we’ll never hold those contests against him. But we have learned not to add any upside.

49ers Edge Rushers

Kerry Hyder
3.5/5
Arik Armstead
