The Dynasty IDP Dime Drop: Tipster’s 2022 Interior DL Sleepers
Welcome to 2021’s The Dynasty IDP Dime Drop: Tipster’s 2022 Interior DL Sleepers. Where once again we set ourselves up early for the coming offseason. There are a lot of reasons IDP managers would want to stash these players if they could. And just as much of a reason to draft them in redraft leagues too. You also could be like me and be willing to trade draft picks for 2nd and 3rd-year players instead of trusting rookies. Whatever the reason. These players have something we should want on our rosters heading into next season.
Christian Barmore
It’s been impressive just how much trust Bill Belichick has put on this 2021 2nd round selection this season. At one point of the season, Barmore was running the highest aunt of the snaps among the interior defensive lineman. Not to mention that he’s held his own when the matchups are right this season. And pairing him and DT Davon Godchaux next to each other is simply a bonus if things work out. So in terms of a dynasty option and potential deep redraft target, Barmore is firmly on the radar.
Old Bill just doesn’t use rookies on either side of the ball normally in their first year. So whatever Bill selling in this case, I’m buying my fair shares of him as a dynasty IDP Dime.
Jacob Martin
This fourth-year interior defensive lineman (3-4 DE) has enjoyed a mini breakout season that’ went fairly unnoticed. In some deeper formats, he even hit as a few bye-week plays too. It doesn’t hurt he plays across from 4-3 DE interior lineman Jonathon Greenard either. A young man that’s broke out big this season. opposing teams may have to decide which way they’ll have to run the ball towards. And that’s bonus opportunities when they likely choose Martin more. So if Martin takes his own next step this off-season and he’s a start next year, there is nothing but upside here he’ll be a sleeper.
The Texans have a lot of work to do on this team. So the way Martin has played counts. And likely means they won’t be looking for a replacement for him soon.
B.J. Hill
The Bengals trade for Hill he’s been nothing but a solid contributor on that stout defensive line. The 26 year old defensive tackle brought a lot of sure starting experience with him from the Giants. And if not for a timeshare with D.J. reader, Hill’s name wouldn’t be under the radar in some formats. And recently he’s seen an uptick in playing time over Reader. So when the Bengals look at that out they have in Reader’s contract this offseason. They just may avoid paying out the 9 million Reader is due if he’s with the team next season. Of course, barring a restructure. Hill is also an unrestricted free agent that’s earned a decent paid day.
There are a lot of teams out there that would love to have his veteran presence. And likely his potential breakout if given the chance. Either way, it’s a sleeper win-win opportunity for us.
Check back later this offseason and be sure to catch the IDP Dime drops on safeties, linebackers, and edge rushers too. We’ll likely have a few more dynasty IDP Dime Drop interior defensive linemen to add sometime this offseason.
Did you Know…
A “breakout” player is a fantasy football person who has been ineffective or marginal in the past. Then suddenly becomes a fantasy football stud one year. A “sleeper” is a term used mostly during drafts. The term refers to players that fantasy managers believe are set to have a breakout season. The word “sleeper” comes from the idea the player is being overlooked. And so is their potential of breaking out that season. – Google
