Welcome to this week’s DFS breakdown, where we dive deep into the best stacks, mini-stacks, and individual plays to help you build a winning lineup. The beauty of this week’s slate is the wide range of options, especially at quarterback and running back, where some high-upside players are simply mispriced. We’ll break down the main stacks that could lead to explosive results, look at some game-specific mini-stacks that could be the key to unlocking hidden value, and cover position-by-position recommendations to round out your lineup. Whether you’re all-in on a high-octane game stack or looking for those under-the-radar plays that everyone else is missing, I’ve got you covered with the analysis and insight to help you crush your GPPs.

Tipping Points

I want to take a different approach and focus on the key anchors to begin. These are the players projected to be extremely popular, and I'll discuss how I plan to handle their high ownership in my lineups. This section will contain any player projecting over 30% ownership on the main slate.

RB Jordan Mason

There are many ways to approach Mason this weekend with a high-powered 49ers offense. At $5,200 on DraftKings, he's about $1,800 too cheap and will likely be 40% owned in the Milly Maker, with even higher ownership in smaller contests.

Mason is coming off his best game since high school and looked great in this scheme, but the 49ers dominated a weaker Jets defensive line. Replicating that against the Vikings, who have a top-tier run defense under Brian Flores, will be tough. Last year, they held Christian McCaffrey to 45 yards rushing, showing their ability to limit the run game. He did have three receptions for 51 yards receiving but that’s why he’s McCaffrey.

Mason's downside comes if Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle take over the scoring, or if the Chargers' RBs, like Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins against a weak Panthers defense, outperform him. Fading Mason isn’t necessary, but it's a viable strategy if he only produces 12-14 DK points while other options shine.

Main Stacks

QB Jared Goff + WR Amon-Ra St.Brown + WR Jameson Williams / WR Chris Godwin

(Play Jordan Mason with this group)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' secondary is banged up, but Vita Vea is healthy, which means their run defense remains strong. Last year, Jared Goff torched this secondary, and with many avoiding him due to a lack of rushing upside, I’m willing to target him in this favorable matchup. The Buccaneers, under Todd Bowles, consistently field a top-5 run defense, employing Cover 3 and forcing teams to beat them through the air—where Goff excels. Amon-Ra St. Brown thrives in those intermediate routes, and this year, Goff adds the deep threat of Jameson Williams' speed. In my FREE article at Fantasy Points, The ASS Report, I broke down Williams' impressive debut and his impact on this offense. I know Williams has an ankle issue and that can be scary, if he’s out or limited I would simply leave it as a Goff/St. Brown stack.

Choosing a runback in this game is tough. I like Chris Godwin in this matchup for his role inside, but there's also an upside with Mike Evans and the cheaper option of Jalen McMillan, who scored in Week 1. Godwin is priced in the middle range, making him a more digestible option. In a negative game script, he could see a high volume of targets, making him a strong play for this offense.

QB Patrick Mahomes +  WR Xavier Worthy + TE Travis Kelce + WR Ja’Marr Chase

Patrick Mahomes has made 97 career starts, with 20 of those in September, where he boasts an impressive 16-4 win-loss record. In these games, he averages 309.8 passing yards and 2.9 touchdown passes per game, totaling 57 touchdowns in September alone. No quarterback has ever reached 60 passing touchdowns within their first 100 starts, but Mahomes is on pace to achieve this milestone in just 98 starts this weekend. A double stack with Mahomes is appealing this week, particularly with Worthy's speed likely causing issues for Cincinnati’s defense. Additionally, Travis Kelce is primed for a big game, especially given the weak TE performances around the league this year. Rashee Rice is also a solid alternative to Kelce or Worthy, depending on personal preference, and considering the Bengals won't make the mistake of putting their middle linebacker on him like the Ravens did.

For a runback option, Ja'Marr Chase stands out. Chase has recently seen more snaps from the slot, and the Chiefs' cornerbacks have been vulnerable, showing lapses in coverage against the Ravens. They can't afford those mistakes against Joe Burrow and Chase, making Chase an excellent choice in this matchup.

QB Kyler Murray +  WR Marvin Harrison Jr. + TE Trey McBride + WR Cooper Kupp + WR Tyler Johnson

OR

QB Matthew Stafford WR Cooper Kupp + WR Tyler Johnson + RB James Conner

The game environment here is shaping up to be a shootout, and I am fine with paying the premiums, with Tyler Johnson being the affordable option that makes this work. Reporters I trust who cover the Rams have stated that Johnson is the backup for Puka Nacua, and that role was lucrative in Week 1. I’m writing this analysis for both sides because the Rams' defense will either struggle against the deep passing game or have a tough time handling a "bully ball" style of football. I’m not sure which way it will play out, so I'm considering James Conner or a Kyler Murray passing stack.

I also believe this is a huge bounce-back week for Marvin Harrison. He’s too talented and will have a big advantage out wide. Trey McBride should see plenty of volume in this matchup, and I expect a rebound week from the premium tight ends. I anticipate that play-action plays will be much more effective against the Rams than they were against the Bills last weekend.

QB Geno Smith + WR DK Metcalf + TE Noah Fant

This stack is simply too cheap and is an overreaction to the Week 1 issues against the Broncos. Pat Surtain is the highest-paid CB in the NFL for a reason and it's because he can limit Metcalf. The Patriots can't cover Metcalf with that kind of ease and we saw the Bengals TEs get work and should have scored if he holds onto the ball. The Patriots cannot take away Metcalf and everything else. I love this as a cheap stack that affords you the luxuries of the expensive plays on the slate.

Mini Stacks

Indianapolis @ Green Bay

WR Adonai Mitchell / RB Josh Jacobs

Reviewing the film from this past weekend, Anthony Richardson missed several opportunities to connect with Mitchell for big touchdowns against the Texans. Looking at the Packers' film, their cornerbacks are likely to be targeted due to their vulnerabilities in coverage, and I believe Mitchell is poised to have a standout game. He’s shown a smooth and explosive skill set as a route runner, indicating he has the potential to be a very good player. However, the question remains whether Richardson can find him through the air, which is why I'm hesitant to stack them this week.

For the Packers to have any shot at winning, they need to rely on Josh Jacobs. With Colts' DeForest Buckner on the injury report, if he is out, Jacobs becomes an even stronger play. While Malik Willis hasn't been impressive, the Packers' run scheme is solid, and Jacobs found a rhythm late in their game in Brazil, making him a key option this weekend.

Las Vegas  @ Baltimore

TE Brock Bowers / RB Derrick Henry

Bowers impressed me a lot in his debut, as he was frequently utilized in motion plays to create space. I don’t think he needs to be forced as a run-back option, but I wanted to highlight his potential in this role.

Henry is in a prime matchup because the Chargers demonstrated how to handle Max Crosby and the Raiders' defensive front: play bully ball and dominate the line of scrimmage. While the Ravens couldn’t do that against the Chiefs, I believe they have a much better chance in this matchup. The Chargers had several big running plays in this scenario, which bodes well for Henry's performance.

New York Jets @ Tennessee

WR Allen Lazard  / RB Tony Pollard

Aaron Rodgers found his best friend again in Lazard and now he’s $3,300. Also, Breece Hall is coming in at almost 30% ownership. I don’t understand the Hall love here outside of the volume he’s had. I do love Garrett Wilson, here as well but the price points don’t matchup for how I am building and I would need that cheap WR to run back with Tony Pollard.

Pollard looked really good all preseason and that carried over into Week 1. Now they have a full gameplan of the 49ers to attack the Jets defensive line because the EDGE rushers cannot defend the outside gaps and explosive rushing plays will be there. This is also a gamescript that would put Breece Hall into a low point total.

Favorite Plays

This section will help you fill that lineup out and contain plays that I did not mention above. This will be separated by position and I will fill out different price options so you can build a good lineup.

Running Backs

$7,000+ Jonathan Taylor, Colts

Saquon Barkley recently dismantled the Green Bay Packers' defense, and I expect Shane Steichen to try and replicate that game plan. The Packers' linebackers have been vulnerable in the passing game and were slow to fill gaps, allowing Barkley to gain momentum. Jonathan Taylor makes for a strong pivot off a chalky Breece Hall, though he may be harder to fit into lineups.

$6-7K

Isaih Pacheco, Chiefs

The field is playing a lot of Mahomes this weekend and Pacheco has ruined quite a few spots like this over the last two seasons. The Bengals got gashed by the Patriots run game and Rhamondre Stevenson.

Kyren Williams, Rams

The Rams' offensive line looks stronger this week, with three of their five projected starters back, which should lead to more success in the run game. Kyren Williams is a popular pick, but I’d only consider him in lineups where I’m looking to mini-stack the game, pairing him with a play like Marvin Harrison.

Derrick Henry, Ravens

Explained it above.

Josh Jacobs, Packers

Explained it above.

James Conner, Cardinals

Explained it above.

$5-6 K

Tony Pollard, Titans

Explained it above.

Zach Charbonnet, Seahawks

Charbonnet should assume a big role for this weekend. It's a bit pricey in my opinion with some of the options on the slate. I don't think I am going here, but Seattle will run the ball.

Najee Harris, Steelers

Handled 20 of the Steelers 26 rushing attempts to RBs last weekend. Denver was getting gashed in the run game. Love the matchup for Najee Harris here.
