Welcome to this week’s DFS breakdown, where we dive deep into the tipping points of the slate, the best stacks, mini-stacks, and individual plays to help you build a winning lineup. The beauty of this week’s slate is the wide range of options, especially at quarterback and running back, where some high-upside players are simply mispriced. We’ll break down the main stacks that could lead to explosive results, look at some game-specific mini-stacks that could be the key to unlocking hidden value, and cover position-by-position recommendations to round out your lineup. Whether you’re all-in on a high-octane game stack or looking for those under-the-radar plays that everyone else is missing, I’ve got you covered with the analysis and insight to help you crush your GPPs.
Tipping Points
RB Saquon Barkley
13 point favorites against the Panthers. Barkley has been incredible and will likely have a big rushing day. The problem here is the touchdowns… If Jalen Hurts steals one and throws one or two to AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith… Nobody has a higher floor but it’s obvious how he fails at the 9,000 price tag.
RB Alvin Kamara
No more Taysom Hill, a bad Giants defense, easy to see why he’s very popular here and I will likely try to get to this chalk.
RB Isaac Guerendo
No McCaffrey, no Jordan Mason, he’s a freak athlete. Him and Braelon Allen are in similar spots but SF is in the way better matchup. I like Guerendo chalk.
RB Braelon Allen
I don’t like this chalk. Miami has a good run defense and they beat up the bad teams.
Raiders Pass Catchers
Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers are gaining steam to be the highest owned pass catchers. I originally liked a low-owned stack with O’Connell but now there’s not a reason to go here as much and it makes me like my primary stack much better.
Main Stacks
I will put these in order of preference for the weekend. I have a few QBs in the pool that I like quite a bit.
QB Josh Allen + WR Amari Cooper + RB Kyren Williams + WR Puka Nacua
When everybody is paying up for RB and playing cheap QB, go after the best QB in the NFL right now that’s a runner and a passer. Allen is set up for a huge game against the Rams and I think this game shootsout.
Amari Cooper has not had the chance to break out with the snow game, his wrist injury, but now he gets the Rams who are the weakest defense he’s faced since he barely knew the playbook against the Titans. Cooper is going to kill this Rams defense on crossers, and go’s and have one of those big Cooper games.
For this game to shootout we need Kyren Williams to run well. He unlocks the play action passing game for Nacua/Kupp to start going and the Bills are a run defense that struggles against elite rushing schemes. McVay is one of those elite rushing schemes and I fully expect them to run the ball successfully and allow Stafford to hit Puka Nacua down the field against their zone coverages. Obviously Cooper Kupp is still in play here, I just prefer getting to Nacua.
QB Jalen Hurts + WR DeVonta Smith OR WR AJ Brown
This is an easy way that Saquon Barkley fails. Hurts ends up passing for a lot of yards and stealing goal line rushing touchdowns. AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith catch a long touchdown and the cheaper RBs keep pace with Barkley who is unable to find the end zone. I don’t think you need to run this back but if you do… I would consider Jonathan Brooks, he had more play time this past week and Chuba Hubbard had a costly fumble.
QB Sam Darnold + WR Justin Jefferson + WR Jordan Addison or TE TJ Hockenson
The Falcons defense played well against the Chargers but they also don’t have WR talent outside of Ladd McConkey and McConkey had over 100 yards at halftime. This is a game where the Vikings can get everything right and put up big numbers because they will have a mismatch at WR all the time.
QB Geno Smith + WR DK Metcalf + WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba OR TE Noah Fant + TE Trey McBride OR RB James Conner OR WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
If Kenneth Walker III misses this game I am going to move Geno Smith up my board this week because they will throw the ball 40-50 times in this game. That opens the door for big games for Metcalf and Smith-Njigba. The run back will be a combo of those three in that order. For whatever reason, Kyler and Harrison are not in sync while McBride makes it look easy without scoring touchdowns. If McBride scores this week he might be a slate breaker. In the first matchup he had over 130 yards receiving when they scored 6 points.
Mini Stacks
Jets @ Dolphins
RB Braelon Allen WR Jaylen Waddle
I don’t love Allen this week, but if I play him at chalk, I will be playing this mini stack.
Waddle is coming in at under 2% owned. I will gladly take a 2% Waddle any day of the week against a Jets team that’s a disaster.
Raiders @ Buccaneers
TE Brock Bowers WR Mike Evans
With Aidan O’Connell getting ownership this is how I will be playing this game. I still think Bowers is a good play against a bad Buccaneers secondary.
Mike Evans is shooting for that 1,000 yard season and needs to average around 100 yards a game to do so. Since returning from injury he has been incredible and I expect him to have a big game against the Raiders.
Jaguars @ Titans
WR Brian Thomas Jr or WR Parker Washington RB Tony Pollard
It’s Mac Jones so I don’t love this but he did play well with these two and recognize when they got open. He was a little off target and if he hadn’t been they would’ve had even bigger games.
Will Levis to Calvin Ridley has some ownership and I like Pollard against the Jaguars run defense.
Top Plays
These are top plays that I have not mentioned yet.
RB Saquon Barkley
Explained this earlier.
RB Alvin Kamara
Explained this earlier.
RB Najee Harris
He’s been running exceptionally hard and has always gotten better in December.
WR Jerry Jeudy
He’s gotten hot with Jameis and I expect that to stay the same here. I just don’t see a huge ceiling because the Pittsburgh Steelers are a tough defense.
WR Jakobi Meyers
Explained earlier.
TE Jonnu Smith
He’s been incredible for Miami over the last few games. I don’t love the price but he’s still in play.
TE David Njoku
He has an elite role for the Browns in the red zone. Would not shock me if he could score 2 touchdowns.
Full Player Pool
I am changing this section up a bit and uploading the full pool below. You can search by team, player, opponent and if they aren't appearing they are not in my pool. Next week we will finally have the advanced data we need to make some more advanced plays on the slate.
