Gridiron Ratings Methodology
Gridiron Ratings pairs real NFL data with film-driven evaluation and a set of proprietary metrics. The flagship 0-99 overall rating blends Performance (65%), Consistency (25%), and Availability (10%), benchmarked by position.
Proprietary metrics
- Accumulated Impact Score (AIS) (Running Back): A cumulative workload metric that quantifies how much physical toll a running back has absorbed over their career.
- Points Over Average at ADP (POAA) (General): Measures how many fantasy points a player scores above or below the average output of players drafted in the same ADP range.
- QB Exposure Score (Quarterback): A composite metric that evaluates how a quarterback's fantasy production is distributed across his receiving weapons.
- Menace Score (IDP): Measures the cumulative pass-rushing disruption a defender creates through sacks, pressures, QB hits, and tackles for loss.
- Hawk Rate (IDP): Quantifies a defender's ability to create turnovers and disrupt passing lanes relative to their snap count.
- Gridiron Overall Rating (General): A 0-99 Madden-style composite score reflecting a player's projected fantasy value across performance, consistency, availability, and draft value.
- Performance Rating (General): Benchmarks a player's per-game stats against position-specific thresholds using 2025 data.
- Consistency Rating (General): Measures how reliably a player delivers fantasy points week-to-week, penalizing boom-or-bust scoring patterns.
- Availability Rating (General): Recency-weighted games played across up to three seasons, scaled to 0-99.
- Value Over Replacement (VOR) (General): The projected fantasy points a player produces above a freely available replacement at their position.
- Dynasty Score (General): A composite dynasty valuation that combines current production with age-adjusted longevity curves and positional scarcity.
- Trade Value (General): A league-customizable score that quantifies a player's trade worth in dynasty and redraft formats, adjustable for Superflex, TE premium, and IDP.
- Weather Impact Score (Tools): The maximum fantasy point swing a player exhibits across different weather conditions, measuring weather sensitivity.
- Injury Risk Score (General): A pre-computed assessment of a player's likelihood of missing games based on historical injury patterns and workload data.
- GRID Identifier (General): A universal player identifier that links a player's identity across all Gridiron Ratings systems, ensuring consistent cross-referencing.
