Viking Safety Lewis Cine: 16th IDP Off the Board / Selected 32nd Overall

“Outstanding instincts allows him to break on the ball or runner-Smart player.”

–  Gridiron Ratings 2022 Rookie NFL Draft Guide

The Minnesota Vikings selected Safety Lewis Cine to help revamp their lackluster secondary. The Vikings finished as the 28th-ranked passing defense last season. Cine replaces Xavier Woods who signed with the Carolina Panthers this off-season. He’s projected to start a Free Safety next to long-time Viking Harrison Smith. Cine is exceptionally fast and he displays good instincts in coverage. He closes in on receivers very quickly and does a great job of breaking up passes.

Cine is also an aggressive tackler. He does a good job of diagnosing plays and blowing up ball carriers near the line of scrimmage. The only concern is that he lacked big-play upside in college. Cine failed to record any sacks and only had 2 interceptions in his 3 seasons at Georgia. Nonetheless, he should provide IDP manager with a solid tackling floor. Cine amassed a very impressive 52 tackles as a sophomore and 73 tackles in his junior season. He has upside in Dynasty as he could be moved to Strong Safety when the team eventually moves on from the aging Harrison Smith.

Gauging Dynasty Vs. Redraft

Solid option in Dynasty who will provide IDP manager with immediate year 1 production. Will provide a solid DB2 floor with tackles and passes defended.

In Redraft leagues, he should be considered more of a DB3 or bye week fill-in. He shouldn’t be depended on as a starter in your fantasy lineups this season.
