Jaguar Devin Lloyd
Jaguar Linebacker Devin Lloyd: 12th IDP Off the Board / Selected 27th Overall
“Reliable wrap up tackler. Uses his size and power to stop ball carries cold”
– Gridiron Ratings 2022 Rookie NFL Draft Guide
The Jaguars took a huge step forward in overhauling their Linebacker room with the selection of Devin Lloyd. Lloyd fills a glaring need at Inside Linebacker after the Jaguars didn’t retain starters, Myles Jack and Damien Wilson. Lloyd figures to have a direct path to immediate playing time next to free-agent acquisition Foyesade Oluokun. Prior to the Draft, the Jaguars had very little depth beyond fringe players such as Shaquil Quarterman, Tyrell Adams, Zamir Jones, Chapelle Russell, and Elijah Sullivan. These options have little to no NFL experience and projects to contribute mostly on special teams. It’s notable that the Jaguars invested a 3rd round pick in Linebacker Chad Muma. However, Muma projects to be the 3rd Linebacker in the rotation and the eventual replacement for Oluokun as the MIKE Inside Linebacker in the team’s 3-4 scheme.
Lloyd was considered by many as the best off-ball Linebacker prospect in the Draft. His talent and versatility were a major factor in the Jaguars trading back into the 1st round and selecting him. He should be considered as the top rookie Linebacker in IDP fantasy drafts considering his landing spot and opportunity for immediate playing time. Lloyd has a high ceiling and possesses massive upside for fantasy managers who invest in him. Lloyd was a big play producer in college recording 7 sacks, 4 ints, and 2 touchdowns in his senior season. His big play ability has sparked comparisons to IDP darling Darius Leonard.
Dynasty vs. Redraft value
Dynasty wise, potential top 5 to top 10 IDP LB play.
Odds on rookie favorite for best redraft LB production.
Draft Devin Lloyd as the #1 IDP rookie LB off the board in Dynasty leagues and LB3/4 upside bench play in deeper leagues. Temper expectations in redraft as his odds of firing in his rookie season aren’t very high. Don’t overdraft him in redraft leagues.
