Dolphins Inside Linebackers

Jerome Baker
2.5/5
Elandon Roberts
1.5/5
Kamu Grugier-Hill
1/5
Calvin Munson
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Baker is the only inside linebacker that has surfaced as a decent play thru two weeks. And is the only one that has seen full-time reps. And although he came back down to earth in production in week two, his opportunities will remain steady as long as he is on the field all the time. On paper, this match-up is just solid versus the Jaguars, but he always has his potential to overproduce considering his situation. We’ll add, with Roberts returning we may see another player on this squad matter. In week one he had a decent amount of snaps, but it as still shy of making a real impact.

Dolphins Safeties

Bobby McCain
2.5/5
Eric Rowe
1.5/5
Brandon Jones
1/5
Reshad Jones (Q)
0.5/5

Advice/Note: As a unit, this squad was a big letdown in a week that should have been solid after coming off a stronger performance in week one. And our snap counts changed as Jones (30%) and Rowe (60%) split snaps. And although we have cornerback Byron Jones ruled out and the chance that snaps percentage will change again, it’ll be really tough to trust this situation in week three. We suggest “if” you’re going here, McCain is likely the only one to place your bet on in terms of time on the field.

Dolphins Interior D-Lineman

Davon Godchaux
2/5
Christian Wilkins
2/5
Raekwon Davis
1/5
Robert Nkemdiche
0.5/5

Advice/Note: As we had mentioned in the last chart, Godchaux and Wilkins have a habit of alternating in weeks with one outperforming the other. And because of this, and although that this matchup is solid on paper, it isn’t solid enough to trust either make an impact Thursday night. At least enough to force a play when we have a lot of games to pick from yet. Don’t get us wrong, one should be above average, there just isn’t enough yet to say reaching here before bye weeks is worth it.

Dolphins Edge Rushers

Kyle Van Noy
3/5
Shaq Lawson
1.5/5
Emmanuel Ogbah
1/5
Andrew Van Ginkel
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Van Noy has now been the most constant player off this entire defense. And Lawson has proven nothing at this point. And the only reason Van Noy isn’t marked a bit higher is his upside carried him in the formula to where he is marked.

VS.

 Jaquars Inside Linebackers

Joe Schobert
3/5
Myles Jack
3/5
Leon Jacobs
1/5
Quincy Williams (IR)
0.5/5

Advice/Note: On paper, this matchup is weakish for these two, but factoring in all the results at this time makes both players must start with upside. This is what happens when two talented players are the only real force in the front seven of a defense. They might not see the ceilings they have in weeks one and two, but that potential to do so is always lingering pending the opposing team’s game plan.

 Jaquars Safeties

Josh Jones
4/5
Andrew Wingard
2.5/5
Daniel Thomas
0.5/5
Jarrod Wilson (IR)
0/5

Advice/Note: With Wilson on I.R., Wingard indeed got the start and seen 100% of the snaps in week two. And we’ll remind owners of a golden rule to help when playing in deeper formats. Try to wait three weeks to see it stick. So we’ll suggest this here, but can’t deny they likely have no other options at free safety and this is a really strong matchup on paper. Noting that most reports about the last contest had these words included. “They were picking on Wingard.” And production by default does support IDP play when a player sees 100% of the snaps. The problem is when it’s this early on in the season it indicates some risk the team may see that and could replace him in the lineup at any point. Just something to keep in mind in this early Thursday contest.

 Jaquars Interior D-Lineman

Adam Gotsis
3/5
Taven Bryan
2/5
Abry Jones
1.5/5
Davon Hamilton
1/5
Timmy Jernigan
0.5/5

Advice/Note: In a lackluster “name” squad, Gotsis has emerged nw in the last to contest to be the guy getting something done. Noting that we just added his name to the interior list this week due to a position change in a few fantasy sites. He had been listed as a defensive end. If it wasn’t just the third contest, we would have added a little upside to his designation based on this very solid matchup on paper. This former Bronco is making a name for himself in Jacksonville to the point owners might want to find him a home on their rosters.

 Jaquars Edge Rushers

Adam Gotsis
2.5/5
Josh Allen
1.5/5
K'Lavon Chaisson
1.5/5
Dawuane Smoot
0.5/5
Cassius Marsh
0.5/5

Advice/Note: First, as a group, this cast of characters is not getting it done as edge rushers, at least yet. Second, we are leaving Gotsis in here for at least this week because of what I mentioned in the interior chart. But we are knocking him down a bit because edge rushers should be sack guys, and so far he hasn’t recorded one. So consider him “just” solid with no upside.
