* The Fantasy Football WK1 Rankings Edge Rusher Chart would traditionally contain just the 3-4 outside linebackers and 4-3 defensive ends from the NFL’s two-base defensive schemes. But at times, for whatever reason, some of the main sites list some 3-4 defensive end. Not to mention some strongside linebackers from the 4-3 scheme. And one of those main sites that have been engaging IDP owners for quite a few years with the designated Edge Rusher position as an option is ESPN.COM.

So although this author doesn’t personally consider those 3-4 defensive ends a part of the true Edge Rushers, we will set these charts by whom they list as such. Because even if the position has been around for some time, on a few sites. It’s still in the process of gaining traction by IDP owners. And there still needs to be a baseline set somehow. So what better way to do it than with the old school, and one of the originals, but ESPN.

Note, this listing of ESPN Edge Rushers may not reflect this author’s Edge Rushers rankings or the Gridiron Rating player ratings. But until it is a full-fledge position used across the board and a player standard is set. We can’t ignore what the users of the charts and IDP owners may have access too. We’ll also mention that the Edge Rusher formula for these charts adds at least one additional step over the traditional five.

Week 3 / AFC Edge Rushers

Attention, Please! As mentioned in the examples real in-depth Advice/Notes are an option when they are needed. And considering that the Edge Rushers opposition in the NFL, for the most part, is stable, users will start noticing that those notes and such will start diminishing as we go.

Reminder, this is the last week the IDP Tactical Tools like the Start/Sit Charts will be free to non-members. we hope you decide to join us as the up to date data is just now about to peek as those so important fantasy football bye-weeks are about to start.

AFC NORTH

 Ravens Edge Rushers

Matthew Judon
2/5
Tyus Bowser
2/5
Pernell McPhee
1.5/5
Jaylon Ferguson
1/5

Advice/Note: This matchup on paper versus the Chiefs is weak enough we advice looking elsewhere if you can this week. But if you’re going here, Bowser has made the biggest impression so far this season and would likely carry any upside, if there is any.

Bengals Edge Rushers

Sam Hubbard
3/5
Carl Lawson
2/5
Carlos Dunlap
2/5
Khalid Kareem
1/5

Advice/Note: Huge red flag as Dunlap went down to about 50% of the snaps as Lawson went up a touch, and apparently is subbing him out. They also upped two depth players snap counts. It’s not a great sign for the old veteran. And unfortunately, at this time we can find a word on why he went down in snaps. But we can assume that lawson is coming up as Dunlap is not the player he was. As for this week, our best advice is to only trust Hubbard versus the Eagles as marked.

 Browns Edge Rushers

Myles Garrett
4/5
Adrian Clayborn (?)
2.5/5
Porter Gustin
2/5
Joe Jackson
1/5
Olivier Vernon (O)
0/5

Advice/Note: A very appealing matchup on paper. Clayborn did return to practice but is still questionable as of this publication. It’s awful early to reach for a play, but if he is out, according to last week’s snap counts, just slide those marks down and give Gustin 2 1/2 because it is that favorable.

Steelers Edge Rushers

T.J. Watt
4.5/5
Bud Dupree
3.5/5
Alex Highsmith
1/5
Olasunkanmi Adeniyi
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Match up is strong, talent is strong, were marking them with all kinds of upside via the five-step formula versus the Texans.

AFC south

Texans Edge Rushers

J.J. Watt
3.5/5
Whitney Mercilus
2/5
Brennan Scarlett
1/5
Jacob Martin
1/5

Advice/Note: Wow, Mercilus has fallen off that edge rusher map so far, so going with what’s on paper, he isn’t worth risking versus The Steelers. And as for Watt who is facing his little brother’s team, we might have figured in his upside in the formula based on the competition on the field.

Colts Edge Rushers

Justin Houston (?)
2.5/5
Denico Autry
2.5/5
Al-Quadin Muhammad
0.5/5
Kemoko Turay (O)
0/5

Advice/Note: As far as we know Autry is still getting reps at the end position, unfortunately, it’s unlikely that he is designated as such in most leagues. But if your leagues got him at DT, it can still translate into a solid match up versus the Jets this week.

 Jaquars Edge Rushers

Josh Allen
0/5
K'Lavon Chaisson
0/5
Adam Gotsis
0/5
Dawuane Smoot
0/5

Advice/Note: Played Thursday and/or the matchup is located on the Thursday Edition of chart.

Titans Edge Rushers

Harold Landry III
2/5
Jadeveon Clowney
1.5/5
Vic Beasley, Jr.
1/5
Kamalei Correa
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Landry hit his mark big last contest. But it is going to be a way tougher workout getting off the edge as the Vikings are still sitting dead last allowing production to the Edge Rushers. He is good and a beast, but even we can’t upside off this on-paper matchup.

AFC East

 Bills Edge Rushers

Mario Addison
3.5/5
Jerry Hughes
2/5
Trent Murphy
2/5
Darryl Johnson
1/5

Advice/Note: At this point, Addison is the only trustworthy one to go with versus the Rams in this real solid edge matchup on paper.

Dolphins Edge Rushers

Kyle Van Noy
0/5
Shaq Lawson
0/5
Emmanuel Ogbah
0/5
Andrew Van Ginkel
0/5

Advice/Note: Played Thursday and/or the matchup is located on the Thursday Edition of chart.

 Patriots Edge Rushers

Chase Winovich
3/5
John Simon
3/5
Shilique Calhoun
2/5
Anfernee Jennings
1/5

Advice/Note: Simon and Winovich are both finding ways to flash. And who knows maybe in this contest versus the Raiders they both his on the same game with it really solid on paper. but until one or both go a couple of games in a row impressing us, we can’t factor in any upside, even if it’s looking like we should this contest.

Jets Edge Rushers

Jordan Jenkins
2/5
Tarell Basham
1.5/5
Kyle Phillips
1/5
Jordan Willis
0.5/5

Advice/Note: A couple of them actually got a little bit last contest versus the 49ers. But considering what they should have got on paper, there is a reason we’ll go with that same old mark and suggest avoiding it versus the Colts.

AFC west

 Broncos Edge Rushers

Bradley Chubb
2.5/5
Jeremiah Attaochu
2/5
Malik Reed
2/5
Von Miller (IR)
0/5

Advice/Note: Ok, someone has to say it, Chubb is struggling to return from his season-ending injury in 2019. That’s got to be it, right? At any point, it can’t be ignored, so until further notice, this unit gets marked exactly like the on-paper result of the formula indicates.

Chiefs Edge Rushers

Frank Clark
4/5
Mike Danna
2/5
Tanoh Kpassagnon
1/5
Alex Okafor (?)
0/5

Advice/Note: Ouch, so Clark played just 43% of the snaps last contest with an undisclosed illness that apparently he just recently got over and back to practice. Which had to hurt a lot of IDP owners. What this did do was give us a look at Kpassagnon, and in the end, he showed a little, but likely not enough considering the real solid match he had. But Clark owners should get him right back in those lineups for this bout with the Ravens. Because on paper he should be really solid and help his owners forget he missed out on week two. of course, this is pending he is fully healthy, which we have not confirmed just yet.

Chargers Edge Rushers

Joey Bosa
3/5
Melvin Ingram III (D)
0/5
Uchenna Nwosu
1/5
Isaac Rochell
0.5/5

Advice/Note: It’s nice to see that Bosa was able to hold up and hit the solid mark after all that KC game history we noted. And because Ingrams likely out and we only have Bosa to really focus on, we’ll give him a slight bump versus the Panthers this week. Even if they are right there with the Chiefs in terms of allowing production to the edge rushers at this point.

Raiders Edge Rushers

Maxx Crosby
2/5
Clelin Ferrell
2/5
Carl Nassib
2/5
Arden Key
0.5/5

Advice/Note: Welp, so far Crosby owners expecting that huge breakout have to be nervous. And because this group has barely kept up with the matchups on paper, we’re sticking to it. And versus the Patriots we’re leaving them right where they are from last contest because they offer just a hair more than the Saints did on paper.
