Chief George Karlaftis
Chief Edge Rusher George Karlaftis: Fourteenth IDP Off the Board / Selected Thirtieth Overall
“Strong enough to be effective as a power rusher – lacks a plan when setting up tackles.”
– Gridiron Ratings 2022 Rookie NFL Draft Guide
Landing in Kansas City, Chief George Karlaftis isn’t far from making the first-year impact. If he can overachieve as a tackler during his rookie learning curve. Although landing in KC does likely mean he’ll see a rotational role. At least with how the Cheifs traditionally deploy their defensive personnel. Veterans Frank Clark and Chris Jones will dominate their normal snaps. Leaving a projected 65% (at best) average playing time per contest. Based on what we know, if we throw in a very capable veteran depth guy Mike Danna. The opportunity to prove he’s more than a bull rusher off the edge and pad the base tackle box score for IDP managers might be tough. And on paper. He’s capped as a first-year IDP play but does have dynasty upside just based on reading the room.
Gauging Dynasty Vs. Redraft
Much better dynasty option with a decent ceiling as he develops.
A long shot in redrafts to produce consistently.
IDP Dime Drop
His redraft and dynasty value as an Edge/DL or possible LB is capped until further notice. Only suggested for those deep benches… for now.
” It’s pretty cut and dry for IDP managers. Are we wanting a shot at first-year production or willing to wait?”
