Welcome to Fantasy Football’s NFC Edge Rusher Championship WK16 Start/Sit Chart cheat sheets presented by GridironRatings.com Where the only original and proven IDP start/sit chart “cheat sheets” via The IDP Tipster can be found. And yes, there are a few imitators, but there is only one true original five-step formula IDP tactical tool. A formula with a well-tested history for over a decade and a proven high-hit rate in IDP play well before sharing it with the public four years ago. And all of that history and relevancy is only available here for G.R. fantasy football family members.
Fantasy Football’s NFC Edge Rusher
Disclaimer: We do not suggest “reaching” for higher designated players over available known studs!
* The Fantasy Football Edge Rusher Chart would traditionally contain just the 3-4 outside linebackers and 4-3 defensive ends from the NFL’s two-base defensive schemes. But at times, for whatever reason, some of the main sites list some 3-4 defensive end. Not to mention some strongside linebackers from the 4-3 scheme. And one of those main sites that have been engaging IDP owners for quite a few years with the designated Edge Rusher position as an option is ESPN.COM.
So although this author doesn’t personally consider those 3-4 defensive ends a part of the true Edge Rushers, we will set these charts by whom they list as such. Because even if the position has been around for some time, on a few sites. It’s still in the process of gaining traction by IDP owners. And there still needs to be a baseline set somehow. So what better way to do it than with the old school, and one of the originals, but ESPN.
Note, this listing of ESPN Edge Rushers may not reflect this author’s Edge Rushers rankings or the Gridiron Rating player ratings. But until it is a full-fledge position used across the board and a player standard is set. We can’t ignore what the users of the charts and IDP owners may have access too. We’ll also mention that the Edge Rusher formula for these charts adds at least one additional step over the traditional five.

Attention Please!
It’s week 15 or 16 and we aren’t messing around with a bunch of huge details. The playoffs are here and we are getting right to the point with the marks. We’ll refect any concerns or anything else via the marks too. The five-step formula has got us here, so short and sweet, trust the charts while we ignore the drama.
If you have a serious question about splitting the hairs between a couple of players or need future assistance, please contact me via Twitter HERE. Or hit our site chat and whoever answers directly the question to me and they will find me via text to help you. Thank you again for joining us this year and we look forward to assisting you again in 2021.
Reminder, there will not be any week 17 charts as 99% of leagues have their championships in week 16. And week 17 means half the teams will sit the starters or they’ll see limited action unless they are the small number of teams needing to win out. Again, if you need direct assistance for week 17, please contact me as I mentioned above.

NFC North
Bears Edge Rushers
Khalil Mack
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Barkevious Mingo
☆☆☆☆☆ 1.5/5
Robert Quinn
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
James Vaughters
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Jaguars. We shouldn’t expect a big turnaround in high-end production this week with Mack after hitting the skid in back in the middle of the season. In other words, the mark is likely Mack’s ceiling.
And just like we warned owners to not chase points one Edwards (which we didn’t even bother adding to our player list), we’ll say the same again with Quinn. And easily make it two out of two correct calls with confidence.
Lions Edge Rushers
Romeo Okwara
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Austin Bryant
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Everson Griffen (?/C)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Julian Okwara (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Trey Flowers (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Buccaneers. Both of these guys have really started to go beyond par. And we have to consider this for this contest. So just know this, their marks have an upside added into it. Because the Bucs aren’t edged rusher freindly.
Packers Edge Rushers
Za’Darius Smith (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Preston Smith
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Rashan Gary (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Jonathan Garvin
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Titans. Just know it’s upside that got these guys marked as high as they are. And adding that the Lions DE’s overachieved versus the Titans O-line last week, but we can not figure that in, just add it as a note. I guess what we are saying, if you own them, it sure would be hard to go a different direction just based on the formula’s results this week.
Vikings Edge Rushers
Jalyn Holmes (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Ifeadi Odenigbo (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
D.J. Wonnum
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Danielle Hunter (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Saints. The odds are, someone on here will overachieve this contest. The Problem, picking who that player or players will be. Because so far with these guys the consistency has hampered the production in the box score. And that’s figured in and why they aren’t marked higher while being divided by three.
NFC south
Falcons Edge Rushers
Steven Means (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Dante Fowler Jr. (O/?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Jacob Tuioti- Mariner
☆☆☆☆☆ 1.5/5
John Cominsky
☆☆☆☆☆ 1.5/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Chiefs. And adding there has been a bit of a snap count swing over the last couple of weeks that hasn’t done anyone any favors. Not to mention that after a few weeks of Means getting into the opposing team’s backfield he is now being keyed on. On paper, there is more to it that can indicate it’s another situation where someone will overachieve. Too bad we can’t confirm that in our process after how things have flipped. The best we got, this is a huge risk versus reward situation for any owner going here.
Panthers Edge Rushers
Brian Burns (O/?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Yetur Gross-Matos
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Marquis Haynes
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Efe Obada
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus Washington. And unfortunately with a “catch 22” on Burns after he overachieved last contest and had that momentum heading into this really solid contest. As you can see we have marked him as Out and Questionable. We have indications he isn’t going to play, but might, if that makes sense. So we went ahead and marked him, but with a hampering injury type mark. It’s likely best to make other plans.
And despite how appealing the matchup is on paper, those other plans should not include any of the other players. We’ll just be nice and call them all “incomplete” on the year.
Saints Edge Rushers
Trey Hendrickson (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Cameron Jordan
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Marcus Davenport
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Carl Granderson
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Vikings. And only Hendrickson’s upside got him there, and now he has a stinger injury.
Buccaneers Edge Rushers
Jason Pierre-Paul (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 3.5/5
Shaquil Barrett
☆☆☆☆☆ 3.5/5
Anthony Nelson
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Quinton Bell
☆☆☆☆☆ 0.5/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Lions and the players upside carried them this high. No one shouldn’ expect that JPP can’t rebound this contest. What happened last contest happens to the best of them. And it would be an act of the FF gods to let it hapeen two times in a row.
NFC East
Cowboys Edge Rushers
DeMarcus Lawrence
☆☆☆☆☆ 4.5/5
Aldon Smith
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Randy Gregory
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Eagles. And it’s just a matter of who overachieves between Smith and Gregory. As for Lawerance, he hasn’t had the snap count or consistency problem.
Giants Edge Rushers
Jabaal Sheard
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Carter Coughlin
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Trent Harris
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Cam Brown
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Kyler Fackrell (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Oshane Ximines (IR/?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Lorenzo Carter (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Ravens. And two things we need to say. It’s the volume of what the Ravens bring to the table off the edge that has them where they are. And if it wasn’t for the top two playing less than 50% of the snaps last contest, they’d be a touch higher. Let’s just say that on paper there is potential for either or both to overachieve. But that’s only if they get to see around 60%, or more, of the snaps available.
Eagles Edge Rushers
Brandon Graham
☆☆☆☆☆ 4/5
Derek Barnett
☆☆☆☆☆ 4/5
Josh Sweat (O)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Genard Avery
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Cowboys. And as a bonus for Graham and Barnett, they should see a touch more playing time with Sweat already ruled out.
Washington’s Edge Rushers
Montez Sweat
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Chase Young
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Ryan Kerrigan
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Ryan Anderson (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Panthers. And their marks have nothing to do with flopping so badly in a very favorable contest last week.
NFC West
Cardinals Edge Rushers
Haason Reddick (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 4.5/5
Markus Golden
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Devon Kennard
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Chandler Jones (IR)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
SEE NEW CHART KEY ABOVE -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Eagles. And is actually the top matchup off the edge on paper for any NFL team. And the only reason that Golden isn’t a bit higher is that he ran 70% to Kennards 30% last week in a rotation.
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the 49ers. And adding, Golden slips because he was rotating 50/50 with the rookie Simmons, who can be found in our ILB charts.
Rams Edge Rushers
Aaron Donald
☆☆☆☆☆ 3.5/5
Leonard Floyd
☆☆☆☆☆ 3.5/5
Justin Hollins
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Samson Ebukam
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Seahawks. And sure we could have added a touch more to Donald. But he was shut down last time these two teams played. Just know that the odds of that happening again are slim, and we went with what’s on paper, minus any upside. Also, part of Donald’s problem was that Floyd had his best game of the season that contest which swallowed up all the opportunities. So, we exspect a more balance outcome this time around.
49ers Edge Rushers
Kerry Hyder
☆☆☆☆☆ 3/5
Dion Jordan (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Arik Armstead
☆☆☆☆☆ 2/5
Jordan Willis (O)
☆☆☆☆☆ 0/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Cardinals. And don’t go chasing points with Armstead from last contest, it normally never ends well. And after gaining momentum for a few weeks, Jones has taken himself out of the picture with an injury that cost him playing time and resulted in no production last contest.
Seahawks Edge Rushers
Carlos Dunlap (?)
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Benson Mayowa
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
L.J. Collier
☆☆☆☆☆ 2.5/5
Alton Robinson
☆☆☆☆☆ 1/5
Advice/Note (If Any): As marked versus the Rams. And it’s the timeshare that killing this group on top of inconsistency. The matchup is actually right, but the situation isn’t and it’s a “pick a pony” on who’ll overachieve. And that’s only if the production available isn’t divided up by the main three again like last week.
