Welcome to the Fantasy Football WK13 Ranking AFC Edge Rusher IDP Start/Sit Chart cheat sheets presented by GridironRatings.com Where the only original and proven IDP start/sit chart “cheat sheets” via The IDP Tipster can be found. And yes, there are a few imitators, but there is only one true original five-step formula IDP tactical tool. A formula with a well-tested history for over a decade and a proven high-hit rate in IDP play well before sharing it with the public four years ago. And all of that history and relevancy is only available here for G.R. fantasy football family members.

Individual Defensive Players

Fantasy Football WK13 Ranking The AFC Edge

Disclaimer: We do not suggest “reaching” for higher designated players over available known studs!

* The Fantasy Football WK1 Rankings Edge Rusher Chart would traditionally contain just the 3-4 outside linebackers and 4-3 defensive ends from the NFL’s two-base defensive schemes. But at times, for whatever reason, some of the main sites list some 3-4 defensive end. Not to mention some strongside linebackers from the 4-3 scheme. And one of those main sites that have been engaging IDP owners for quite a few years with the designated Edge Rusher position as an option is ESPN.COM.

So although this author doesn’t personally consider those 3-4 defensive ends a part of the true Edge Rushers, we will set these charts by whom they list as such. Because even if the position has been around for some time, on a few sites. It’s still in the process of gaining traction by IDP owners. And there still needs to be a baseline set somehow. So what better way to do it than with the old school, and one of the originals, but ESPN.

Note, this listing of ESPN Edge Rushers may not reflect this author’s Edge Rushers rankings or the Gridiron Rating player ratings. But until it is a full-fledge position used across the board and a player standard is set. We can’t ignore what the users of the charts and IDP owners may have access to. We’ll also mention that the Edge Rusher formula for these charts adds at least one additional step over the traditional five.

AFC NORTH

 Ravens Edge Rushers

Matthew Judon (O)
0/5
Yannick Ngakoue
3.5/5
Tyus Bowser
3/5
Pernell McPhee
3/5
Jaylon Ferguson (?)
2/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: We are going to try and sum this up as easy as possible. Judon and McPhee were out last contest. McPhee looks like he’ll play and nothing new on Judon’s status as of this publication. If Judon is out again, and we are reading the past right, it should be McPhee and Bowser playing off the edge with Ferguson mixing in, if he can play. It’s a fluid situation, see if you can get some updates if you are going here on Tuesday.

HUH?

The matchup on paper is one of the strongest across the board for the Baltimore front seven. It’s just a matter of who plays and what position. Ngakoue should be safe at his mark as he has been playing more interior with Campbell out. Which is another situation to watch because Campbell could be activated anytime now. But it shouldn’t affect Ngakoue’s playing time. he would likely kick back outside and send Bowser to a rotational role.

HOW?

Clear as mud, right? And now you know why even if it is a strong contest for them, we stuck to just marking from the results based on what the players on hand have brought to the table.

Bengals Edge Rushers

Sam Hubbard
3/5
Carl Lawson
2/5
Khalid Kareem
1.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Dolphins.

 Browns Edge Rushers

Myles Garrett
3/5
Olivier Vernon
2/5
Adrian Clayborn
1.5/5
Porter Gustin
1/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Titans. And we didn’t bother with any upside added for Garrett coming off the COVID list. Just know that if he is 100% healthy, he will likely overachieve a bit.

Steelers Edge Rushers

T.J. Watt
4.5/5
Alex Highsmith
3/5
Olasunkanmi Adeniyi
1/5
Bud Dupree (IR)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Washington. And adding that Highsmith has flashed enough when he has had the chance that he should hit par on his mark in this contest. If he doesn’t here for some reason, he likely won’ for the rest of the season.

AFC south

Texans Edge Rushers

J.J. Watt
2.5/5
Whitney Mercilus
1.5/5
Brennan Scarlett
1/5
Jacob Martin
0.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Colts. And granted there is no upside added in here for Watt. And we fear it may be his ceiling marked. It’s simple as to why he is where he is. We remember what he was getting on paper versus the matchups before he hit a string of contests he overachieved in. It’s the playoffs folks, or almost there, and we aren’t risking he’ll make an interception and running it back for a TD in our formula. If he had better players around him to take some of the attention, maybe we would feel better about this matchup.

Colts Edge Rushers

Justin Houston
2/5
Denico Autry
2/5
Tyquan Lewis
2/5
Al-Quadin Muhammad
2/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Texans. And why are they all marked like they are? That’s simple enough to explain.

One, the Texans are not allowing much off the edge, not like they had in the past. Two, what is there on paper, we have to divide by four when all these guys are healthy. And yes, we expect someone, maybe a couple, to overachieve in this divisional matchup. But don’t forget, the Colts also have Buckner and Stewart on the interior too. And although they don’t see the edge much, they are still going to be in the mix for a portion of the IDP pie. There just isn’t enough slices to go around on paper. And there is always the odds that each one gets a fork full and it’s spread out as they rotate heavely.

It’s just too risky at this time of the year to even think about pushing it with this squad and pick out the big winner.

2.5/5
Mario Addison
2/5
Trent Murphy
1.5/5
A.J. Epenesa

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the 49ers. And adding, overall the 49ers have dropped off significantly in recent weeks to allowing production off the edge.

Dolphins Edge Rushers

Emmanuel Ogbah
4/5
Kyle Van Noy
4/5
Shaq Lawson
2.5/5
Andrew Van Ginkel
2.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Bengals. And would suggest sticking to the main two guys. The numbers and opportunity should be there, but we see no reason to reach when we don’t need to.

 Patriots Edge Rushers

John Simon
4/5
Chase Winovich
4/5
Shilique Calhoun
1.5/5
Anfernee Jennings
1/5

Jets Edge Rushers

Bryce Huff
2/5
Jordan Jenkins
2/5
John Franklin-Myers
1.5/5
Kyle Phillips (IR)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Raiders. The streak is likely over for Jenkins as this squad needs the right matchups to get it done. And this one isn’t it on paper.

AFC west

 Broncos Edge Rushers

Bradley Chubb
3/5
Malik Reed (?)
3/5
Jeremiah Attaochu
1.5/5
Anthony Chickillo
1/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Saints. And you should have seen the look on my face when I see Reed out-snapped Chubb by nearly 10% last contest. Both were up in that full-time range for OLB/ Edge Rushers, so no concerns there. It’ll just be interesting to see if it happens again. And with Attaochu falling all the way to about 30%, it looks like the Broncos are doing the right thing with reed. Which is great for us, at least in this contest.

And there is a touch more meat on the IDP bone here we could have added. But, just in case Reed’s snap fall, or there is something happening with Chubb, we’ll just say it. There is upside here we didn’t add-in and we could have made them a half-star higher with no real guilt.

Chiefs Edge Rushers

Frank Clark
3/5
Alex Okafor
2.5/5
Tanoh Kpassagnon
2/5
Mike Danna
2/5
Taco Charlton (IR)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Broncos.

Chargers Edge Rushers

Joey Bosa
3.5/5
Uchenna Nwosu (?)
2/5
Isaac Rochell
0.5/5
Melvin Ingram (IR)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Patriots.

Raiders Edge Rushers

Maxx Crosby
3/5
Carl Nassib
2/5
Clelin Ferrell
1.5/5
Arden Key
0.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Jets, and granted it is a little shaky for Crosby after flopping in a really strong matchup last week versus the Falcons. So, just keep it in mind if you have as good of option elsewhere.
