For now, if we own him it’ll be tough not to take the risk that Harrison just remains the third safety in the slight rotation.

Advice/Note: First, on paper, this is not an appealing matchup at all versus the Jets this week. Sure someone will produce, but it is that weak that any upside got them where they are marked. Second, oddly enough when Hooker went down last contest it was Blackmon who took his place in the lineup. And reportedly faired well. Since this matchup is weak, we suggest giving the guys a week off if you can, and let’s see if Blackmon sticks over the veteran Wilson and last year’s Hooker replacement at times, Odum.

Advice/Note: This is a matchup that has “catch 22” written all over it. On paper, it’s weak versus the Vikings, but we have to consider the players involved and their roles within the scheme. And as we can see from the last contest that stud byard is far from matchup proof. These players owners may want to consider other avenues if they are available this week. And we have eyes on the rookie Hooker. The secondary is beaten up and he stepped up nicely last contest. Could he carve out a starting role? Well, his skillset suggests it’s possible if things go right, but it might not be as a true safety and more of a slot guy. Only time will tell.

Advice/Note: IDP owners have to love the Patriots IDP players, and we do mean this jokingly. So far McCourty is the every-down guy, which isn’t shocking. Adrian Phillips went from 70% in week one to 78% in week two but came back down to earth in production. And the rookie Dugger surpassed week one’s third safety Brooks by a large margin in playing time in week two. Jumping from 19% to 54%. So we’ll make sure anyone new to IDP understands something about the Patriots defense. They are the only defense in the NFL that base their defensive scheme of the week off of the opposing team. And with that, each player’s role for the week can change as well in terms of responsibilities. It has been this way for a very long time and certainly doesn’t look like it’ll change. So for this reason, unless we see a reason to change, know that we are always going to side with caution in the formula results on paper.

Advice/Note: As stated in the last week’s notes, Simmons bounced back big in week two. And Jackson came back down to earth. We should expect this from time to time, it’ll be tough for both to overachieve in the same contests. But as long as they get what the paper results suggest we’ll be fine using them as indicated. Keep this in mind versus the Bucs in week three. Because the formula indicates that Simmons has the advantage in this contest, but both are strong to produce.

Advice/Note: Lat week we mentioned the timeshare for Thornhill and Sorenson, with Sorenson getting the larger portion. And of course, that flipped in week two with Thornhill seeing 100% of the snaps and Sorenson seeing 70%. And this is normally an on-going issue with the Chief’s second and third safety carried over since Andy Reid become the Chiefs head coach. With that being said all of them underperformed last contest, including Mathieu. That is a rare event for Mathieu, so he remains our main trustworthy target in this squad versus the Ravens this week.

Advice/Note: Best we can do is give week two snap counts at this moment. Jenkins got hurt and went for 44% of the snaps. King was the highest producer in IDP but only saw 57% of the snaps. And Adderley was a 99% guy but did very little with that amount of snaps. Granted it wasn’t the best matchup on paper, to begin with, and why we marked them all with 2 stars last week. But the snaps just add even more uncertainty for week three versus the Panthers. And it’s too bad, because on paper, the Panthers are a real strong contest for this group. It’s so strong we’ll give them a bump, but we’ll leave it to the owner to decide if they need to go here this contest with the risk of it all. The best case scenario may be to hear that jenkins won’t play. But that is far from locking down either of the other two guys.

Advice/Note: They didn’t exactly take full advantage of the solid contest last week versus the Saints, but that was likely due to the game flow with the Raiders showing power over the Saints on offense. And at least we have some clarity so far on who is getting to play, something we’ve not had for the last few seasons. On paper versus the Patriots, Abram will have a great game, and Harris should hit his mark, even at the deep free safety spot.
