Fantasy Football Ranking WK14

HEY!

Just want to make sure members check out the highlighted player in the Texans notes. We don’t have time to stop and write up a dime drop on him at this time. But we think he is worthy and we want to make sure all GrisironRatings members see what’s said about Lonnie Johnson.

AFC NORTH

 Ravens Safeties

Chuck Clark
3/5
DeShon Elliott
3/5
Anthony Levine Sr.
2/5
Geno Stone (O/C)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Browns. And like to know what happened to Clark in the last contest, on the COVID Tuesday game? We had an undisclosed injury at the time we wrote about him in the notes and made his marks in the charts. And in the end, days later, he played in the game with a knee injury. And apparently, he was not over it as they didn’t quite use him in a normal fashion. Instead, they put free safety Elliott in more prime spots to be in the action as they didn’t want Clark hurt. Hopefully, as it was with the COVID game situation most owners just simply had looked elsewhere.

As for this week

The Browns have changed their footprint in production allowed quite a bit to all designated positions since week one. Back from when these two teams played each other and Clark had a good box score padded with a forced fumble on top of his six tackles. And if your wondering, Elliott went with five combined for a decent result. So we are a little skeptical with the changes on paper this time around what our base tackles will be. And believe it or not, they seem too high considering the Browns like to run the ball so much.

So, we are just giving the baseline on the paper result without any “upside” or assumptions weighed in. We feel that the game script and flow will determine if either of these players can overachieve this week. The final outcome on the marks, it’s likely best to consider them their ceilings.

AFC south

Texans Safeties

Justin Reid
4.5/5
Lonnie Johnson (CB/S)
3.5/5
Eric Murray
2/5
Michael Thomas (IR)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Bears. And attention please, Johnson has now entered our picture after getting the job done for three contests in a row. In those contests, he has an average of 68% of the snaps, which is a bit shy of what we really want. But as the third slot safety role is right, he has recorded 19 combined tackles. Is this top tier, welp, it’s pretty darn near it.

IDP Dime Drop Short Take

Johnson can offer a couple of things this week and maybe beyond. Of course, this week as marked (his ceiling, no upside added, not yet) versus the Bears as a safety play or maybe a cornerback in sites listing him as both. As in more value, he is a potential player to stash in dynasty leagues with deep formats. Safties are more consistent than most cornerbacks. And owning a safety that can produce in the cornerback position can secure a better season-long play. It could be worth the stash to see if he is that third safety/slot guy again next season.

Colts Safeties

Khari Willis (?)
2.5/5
Julian Blackmon
2/5
Tavon Wilson
1/5
George Odum
0.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Raiders, who remain in the bottom five in allowing production to the safeties. And add on Willis missing last contest and still is questionable, it’s just not worth the risk during the playoffs. So consider all marks “barely” where they are.

 Jaquars Safeties

Josh Jones
3/5
Jarrod Wilson
3/5
Andrew Wingard
1/5
Brandon Watson
0.5/5
Daniel Thomas (IR)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: First, when we did last week’s chart note we had no indication at all that Jones was coming off the I.R. and would play in week 13. With that said, as marked versus the Titans. And adding, either one or both can overachieve based on the Tians game script and expect one of them to do so accordingly.

Titans Safeties

Kenny Vaccaro
3.5/5
Kevin Byard
2.5/5
Amani Hooker
2/5
Joshua Kalu
1/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Jaguars.

AFC East

 Bills Safeties

Jordan Poyer
4.5/5
Micah Hyde
3.5/5
Dean Marlowe
1/5
Jaquan Johnson
0.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Steelers. And because Hyde overachieved even over our high mark last week, we feel we should mention something. The odds of that happening again are very slim, and this mark is likely his best ceiling. Which really is again just good and solid this time around. We’ve come to learn with him that we don’t want to get too excited when he has a really great contest one week.

Dolphins Safeties

Eric Rowe
2.5/5
Bobby McCain
2.5/5
Brandon Jones
2/5
Reshad Jones (Q)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: On paper, they barely got where they are versus the Chiefs have remained at the very bottom of the list when allowing production to the safeties.

 Patriots Safeties

Adrian Phillips
0/5
Devin McCourty
0/5
Kyle Dugger (?)
0/5
Terrence Brooks
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: Played Thursday.

Jets Safeties

Marcus Maye
2.5/5
Ashtyn Davis (D)
0/5
Matthias Farley
2.5/5
Bradley McDougald (IR)
0/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Seahawks. And although they aren’t just “barely” there, it’s likely their ceilings on paper.

AFC west

 Broncos Safeties

Justin Simmons
3.5/5
Kareem Jackson
3/5
Trey Marshall
1/5
P.J. Locke
0.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Panthers.

Chiefs Safeties

Daniel Sorensen
3/5
Tyrann Mathieu
3/5
Juan Thornhill
2/5
Tedric Thompson
1/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: Revision made… Originally I had stated, or seen, that Sorenson had dipped pretty well in playing time. I’m only human and these numbers all start looking alike. He did indeed play 100% of the snaps in week 14. But as to why he had a down contest in the box score, we don’t know. but what we do know is it happens to the best of them, so we aren’t holding against him this time.

They are all as marked versus the Dolphins. But we know the main two guys carry their own upside being the only productive full-time players on this defense. We just can’t keep adding it and maxed out what we could to get them where they are. The Dolphins sit in the bottom 5 at allowing production to the safeties. And that weighs heavy in our formula.

Chargers Safeties

Nasir Adderley
3.5/5
Rayshawn Jenkins
4/5
Jahleel Addae
2/5
Alohi Gilman
1/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked on paper versus the Falcons.

Raiders Safeties

Johnathan Abram (?)
4.5/5
Erik Harris
3/5
Jeff Heath (?)
3/5
Dallin Leavitt
0.5/5

See New Chart Key Above -Advice/Note: As marked versus the Colts. And it’s a matter of who is in or who is out. Abram (ankle) is practicing in a limited fashion and Heath, who had started seeing more time on the field, even before Abram went down, has a concussion. So, we’ll mark the two closest to playing at this point. But Harris owners should be nervous if heath plays. He wasn’t cutting in too much into Harris’s time but was gathering up all the production in front of him. It might be a situation to avoid between those two despite the great matchup on paper. That’s if heath plays.
