Category: General · Status: Active
What it measures
The Gridiron Overall Rating is the platform's flagship player evaluation metric. It synthesizes three sub-ratings into a single 0-99 score that represents a player's overall fantasy football value based on current and recent season production.
Inputs
- Performance Rating: Per-game stats benchmarked against position-specific thresholds using 2025 data (65% weight).
- Consistency Rating: Weekly scoring variance analysis via CV and 7-bin distribution measuring boom/bust patterns (25% weight).
- Availability Rating: Recency-weighted games played across up to 3 seasons (10% weight).
Scale
- 90 – 99: Elite - franchise cornerstone, weekly must-start.
- 80 – 89: Strong starter - reliable high-end production.
- 70 – 79: Solid flex/starter - dependable weekly option.
- 60 – 69: Depth piece - situational starter or bye-week fill-in.
- Below 60: Bench stash or streaming option.
How to use it
- Use Overall Rating to quickly compare players across positions during drafts.
- Sort rankings by Overall Rating for a single-number view of projected fantasy value.
- Drill into sub-ratings to understand why a player rates high or low overall.
- A WR rated 88 and an RB rated 85 can be meaningfully compared for overall fantasy impact.
Limitations
- The 65/25/10 weighting is opinionated and may not match every manager's risk tolerance.
- Ratings are based on actual stats rather than projections, so early-season ratings may shift as more data accumulates.
- Does not account for league-specific scoring settings (half-PPR, TE premium, Superflex).
- Players with fewer than 4 games played receive a sample-size discount that reduces their rating.
