Category: General · Status: Active
What it measures
Availability Rating uses recency-weighted games played across up to three seasons (60% current, 30% prior, 10% two years ago) to produce a 0-99 score. Playing all 17 games in a season maps to 99. Carries 10% weight in the Overall Rating.
Inputs
- Games played per season: Actual games played in up to 3 recent regular seasons (2025, 2024, 2023).
- Recency weights: Current season 60%, prior season 30%, two seasons ago 10%.
Scale
- 95 – 99: Iron man - projected to play a full or near-full season.
- 80 – 94: Minor concern - may miss 1–3 games.
- 65 – 79: Moderate risk - projected to miss 4–6 games.
- Below 65: High injury risk - significant missed time expected.
How to use it
- Factor Availability Rating into draft strategy - a player with elite Performance but poor Availability may need a handcuff.
- When deciding between two similarly-ranked players, the higher Availability Rating offers a safer floor.
- Use alongside Injury Risk Score for a complete health and durability assessment.
Limitations
- Based on projections which carry inherent uncertainty - freak injuries are unpredictable.
- Does not distinguish between severity of injuries (hamstring strain vs. ACL tear).
- Players entering new roles or schemes may have different injury exposure than historical patterns suggest.
