Minnesota Vikings rookie Linebacker Brian Asamoah doesn’t project to have much fantasy value in his first season. He’ll likely slot in as the 3rd Linebacker in the team’s 3-4 scheme. His role will likely involve mostly special teams duties as he sits back and learns from accomplished veterans Eric Kendricks and Jordan Hicks. Asamoah is best viewed as a long-term Dynasty asset as it could take a year or two before he becomes a starter. IDP managers investing in Asamoah should note that veterans Kendricks and Hicks are under contract for the next two seasons.

The Vikings view Asamoah as a 3-down LB who is a good run defender and solid in coverage. However, he doesn’t project to deliver much in the big-play department after only recording 5 sacks and 1 interception in three seasons at Oklahoma. His best-case scenario beyond an injury to one of the starters, is if he shows enough promise in his rookie season to earn a starting job in 2023.

Dynasty and Redraft Evaluations

Much more appealing as a Dynasty option. The player doesn’t project to be fantasy relevant in year 1. Potential top 12 option. IDP managers should be stashing him on their taxi squads.

Full fade in redraft leagues. Better off left on waivers. The player has depth chart hurdles that will make it difficult for him to have any fantasy value.
