IDP Dime Drop Status...
With 49ers free safety Jimmy Ward out week one with a finger issue, second year defensive back Tarvarius Moore stood out. Not only stood out, but outplayed some expectations. Let’s just cut to it and add a few notable quotes.

49ers finish in Week 1 shows a different team than from a year ago : “You don’t see that every day. 4th down with two yards and Tarvarius Moore, who has moved from cornerback back to safety and makes the 4th down stand. What?”
49ers vs. Buccaneers: Tarvarius Moore poised to start at free safety : “Moore made the switch from boundary cornerback to safety during OTAs and training camp, following Ward’s earlier injury, a broken collarbone. Once Ward returned, it seemed as if Moore would revert back to a reserve role. Although the 49ers gave Moore a massive amount of snaps at safety during the preseason.”
Kyle Shanahan: “We thought if we got 30 runs in that game, we’d win.” : “…We know he can cover, we know he can run and you can see it on the tape, he does not mind hitting at all. He’s got a knack for the ball out there. It comes pretty natural to him. If he can stay healthy and the more he plays, I think the better he’ll get.”
IDP Dime Drop Ceiling And Floor
We have no real clue what the free safety spot for the 9ers could hold. The have been thru the ringer with players at that position for a few years now. Either guys like Wards played there and did so/so or got hurt. Believe me when i tell you it’s a mixed package of “reaches” and under performing players.
As a Free Safety in fantasy football league we are likely safe to think mid DB2. That’s if he holds off Jimmy Ward which shouldn’t be hard. The floor, welp, bench meat. See below if this young man is sitting on the wire as a corner back.
IDP Dime Drop Conclusion
This kid as a cornerback playing FS in leagues is a big boost. Normally when we have players like this slip thru the fingers of the sites it works out nicely. Look, Jimmy Ward isn’t good, and hasn’t played an entire season worth anything in years. And if you look at it that a good FS can be way more consistent than 80% of cornerbacks on a weekly basis, that’s huge. Just check out the IDP Bible in the “And You May Also Enjoy…” below. If you can stash him soon without dropping anyone worth more than a flier, cool. But a lot has to play out here.
Ward has to keep flopping and Moore needs to keep showing us something for around three weeks straight when he gets the running chance. The Potential here is full of “upside” if things go as it seems it should. Moore has size and apparently the skill set according to Shanahan. And it’s not like this kid is a sixth rounder either. It’s hard to ignore a 3rd rounder, especially one originally drafted as a corner back.
