Welcome to the fantasy football’s Top 26 dynasty IDP targets under 26 in 2020. This series of articles is intended to help those fantasy football owners looking to revamp or start a dynasty roster. So why 26 under 26? Because our focus is on a group of fantasy football defensive players that are no older than 25. And have shown to be long term potential IDP assets at the highest level. The kind players we want to have on our rosters as they hit their prime years. And hopefully helping us earn a few titles as the seasons roll by.

Dynasty IDP Targets Ranking Ground Rules

Ranking fantasy football players can vary in opinions. So we will lay out the ground rules on how those IDP hairs were split between these players. Starting with the following things taken under consideration. And making this statement now.

No matter how, when. or why it’s an opinion.  And the same can be said on who the players are that are chosen to be in the rankings.

So with that being said, my credentials in IDP knowledge runs around fifteen years now. And much of that time is not just spent on fantasy football data. It also includes researching and keeping up on the latest reports and news. And although “numbers” have to be used to rank. I find that those IDP hairs are so thin to split that normally I’d soon have any player within a difference of ten from any given rank.

The point here is we’ll list the considerations taken into these rankings. And my personal opinions are just that. Because all of the 26 and likely a few that didn’t make my list, boils down to my personal preferences.

Now on to our Top 26 Dynasty IDP Targets under 26 years old for 2020.

Dynasty IDP Targets

Green Bay Packer Defensive Tackle Kenny Clark

Position: DT/DL  –  Height/Weight: 6-3, 314lb  –  Age As Of Jan. 1 2020: 24

Salary / Contract

Note: Green Bay would be crazy to not at least pick up Clark’s fifth-year option. And if they don’t, we shouldn’t be concerned. Because where ever he lands the following “take” still stands.

8th* Overall Defensive Lineman, But 4th Overall Among Defensive Tackles.

College Credentials

Clark started four games as a freshman at the University of California in 2013. Then in 2014 as a sophomore, he became a second-team All-Pac-12 selection as a full-time player. The following season as a junior he went on to earn an all-conference first-team selection. Also finishing 2015 second with the Bruins with 75 total tackles, six sacks, and eleven tackles for a loss. It was his overall athletism that stood out among the ranks of defensive lineman in the NCAA. Which earned him a first-round selection in the 2016 draft.

NFL Recap

Despite being the 27th overall pick by Green Bay in 2016 he played sparingly. While only starting two games and seeing 32% of the available snap counts for the season. This was an old school approach as far as today’s standards among most NFL teams. And to be honest the Packers could have used his talents that season. Because there was no real notable play making defensive tackles on the starting squad that season. But in the end, they choose not to throw Clark into the fire. Instead, they let him develop his craft at the NFL level in a more traditional old school pace. And that likely should pay off in the long run for the organization.

Starting in 2017 and into 2018 his playing time increased to what could be considered a fulltime roll. Between the two seasons, he saw 67% o the available snaps as a rotational starter. Which in today’s NFL is common practice keeping the players fresh as the pace of the game has increased. And the dividends in increased playing time did start paying off for the team. He quickly established himself as the top interior defensive lineman on the squad.

So as 2019 rolled around and Green Bay parted ways with one coaching regime for another. And the new staff took advantage of what they had and increased Clark’s role to a higher level. One that displayed what he had flashed in 2017 and 2018. The 84% snap count percentage allowed Clark to keep the pressure on opposing QBs while helping to stop the run. And in combination with better outside linebacker play off the edge, it helped fix what was a lackluster defensive front.

Fantasy Football Dynasty IDP Targets Summary

So from the Dynasty IDP Targets aspect. Clark has now become one of the top dynasty DT options of the future. And the stats don’t lie from 2019. And that increased time on the field didn’t wear him down as he kept up the pace from 2017 and 2018. So while it simply gives him more opportunities to make plays going forward. As long as the snap counts remain, at just 24 years old and with four regular seasons under his belt. And he is just getting started at hitting the prime years of his NFL career.

So do we see him increase his numbers? Who knows? But as he has demonstrated over the last three seasons comparably, he should start anchoring a lot of fantasy rosters soon. And with fantasy football DT’s like Donald, Atkins, and Cox getting older, replacements are a must. So Clark, along with defensive tackles including Grady Jarrett (26), should be those we seek for the next three to four seasons. So be sure to take advantage of this in 2020. And get Clark on your rosters if you can.

It’s this writer’s opinion that defensive tackles in dynasty leagues can be streamed. But there is that handful of players we can set and forget. And Clark certainly has that potential and with upside. So after or when he pulls it off again in 2020 he’ll become a player even harder to get our hands-on. There are technically only two Defensive tackles that make this dynasty IDP targets list. And I guarantee fantasy football owners the other player has been all over the radar for years. So go find a way to get Clark for the long haul.
